Congratulations to the White House puppies!

We at Way Cool Dogs would like to offer our sincere congratulations to President Obama & family on their new family member, “Bo”, and to Vice-President Biden & family for their new edition “Champ” since taking office. As U.S. citizens, we appreciate the fact that both men and their families are in leading positions of the United States of America,  and should be honored as such for the duration of their office. They should also be  honored as sincere dog lovers who bring an air of love and caring into an office which supports democracy for all, not just the few who choose to disallow democracy to those who do not dance to the same drum.

Democracy is a form of government which supports four prominent keys: (1) free and fair elections; (2) the active participation of all its citizens in politics and their civic life; (3) the protection of the human rights of all its citizens; and (4) the support of a rule of law where all laws and procedures apply “equally” to all citizens. In our mind, this should  not exempt  President Obama or Vice-President Biden each from making an independent decision regarding their “personal lives”–choices which should be made without judgment or condemnation by anyone.

How about sending a letter of congratulations to President Obama’s happy little girls and Vice-President Joe Biden’s granddaughters on their new playmates through the white house website at http://www.whitehouse.org.  It might make the children happy and isn’t that what puppies are all about!

The president’s new pooch is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog named Bo, whose breeder described him as a happy dog but as smart and hardheaded as anyone in Washington. The Portuguese Water Dog that the Obama family will receive is 6-months old and a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts who owns many Portuguese water dogs as well.

Spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander, says the girls revealed their choice as the family gathered on Christmas morning. She says when the vice president-elect was a child his father called him Champ.

I too congratulate the President and his family for their choice in welcoming another family member to their house, and citizens, OUR house. No doubt that the new puppy will bring the most joy to all, and especially to the two girls. I also congratulate the Biden’s for their choice in a beautiful shepherd puppy. I have read much lately about how some think that the Bidens should not have chosen their pet from a breeder, and should have made their choice from a shelter. It is sad and actually sickening to listen to how this entire process (originally made from sincere love) could have so much negativity fall upon it. I have two dogs myself, one of which I chose from a breeder, and one was from an animal rescue organization. It was MY choice, as it is everyone’s, and NO ONE has the right to tell me where and from whom my pet of choice should come from. The end result is that an animal now has a loving home and is well cared for. That’s the bottom line.
