Dog Who Laughs Last, Laughs the Loudest!

Research with dogs shows us that a dog’s laugh is contagious…at least to other dogs. We just think they’re totally ‘nuts! But it doesn’t take an Einstein to figure out that laughing is the most contagious thing there is and the healthiest emotion. Once one person in a room begins to laugh, pretty soon the entire room will chime in, all laughing hysterically at a joke that may not even be funny! Maybe we should ask why a dog should be any different.
Researchers at Washington’s Spoke County Regional Animal Protection Service a couple of years ago had separated a simple act of barking from a “long, loud panting sound”. They described this odd sound as the sound of a dog laughing which had a direct impact on the behavior of surrounding dogs. Considered a phenomenal find, when the laughing dog’s sounds were played over the loudspeaker, all barking dogs within the shelter went quiet for about a minute.

What was found is that surrounding dogs were affected by that one laughing dog—offering a calming or soothing effect on the animals instead of causing them all to laugh also. This may be a point for or against humans, but I am not sure which one takes precedence. One thing for sure, it had SOME effect on the dogs, but whether it was a laugh or not…remains questionable!
But as cats owners realize, dogs are not the only intelligent animals who talk or vocalize what they are feeling! Check this video out from YouTube! It is absolutely hilarious!
