Emergency Practices for Heart Attack Victims

Posted By Nancy Houser on August 21, 2009

Heart attacks have no barriers of weight, age group, sex or nationality—regardless of what special interest groups say—with a 13 year-old boy the earliest victim of heart attack. Simple things like not laying down when having a heart attack are things most people do not know.

Here are some short cuts to possibly saving your life or someone close to you. Pass it on to everyone on your email list immediately, knowing that someone on the list will live because of it. Tape it to your refrigerator or place it by your night stand, as in the middle of a heart attack calming reading a 1-2-3 list for heart attacks simply won’t happen!

  • Keep aspirin by your bedside at night to prevent a heart attack or stroke as 60% of  heart attacks occur during the night or early morning hours with the pain awakening (or not) the victim.
  • Also place two aspirins in the mouth and swallow with a bit of water when awoken or any of the following symptoms arise. DO NOT lie down!
  • Call 911 immediately and have someone unlock the front door. If alone and you are unable to get to the door after the door, inform the 911 caller the door is locked.
  • Heart attack symptoms vary — a pain in the left arm, an intense pain in the chin area or in the middle of the back; nausea; lots of sweating; or no pain at all — simply an odd feeling something is terribly wrong.

AFTER MAKING THE CALL AND TAKING THE ASPIRINS

  • Phone a close neighbor or family member by simply saying “Heart Attack!”
  • Tell them you have taken two aspirins and called 911. If not, tell them you need to do so and need immediate assistance.
  • Sit in a living room or bedroom chair and wait for the arrival of help.
  • I have already shared the information — What about you?

Please, please forward this message on to those you know or care about. It is guaranteed by cardiologists to save one out of every ten people’s life. Maybe one will be yours.

** FOR YOUR INFORMATION ON HEART ATTACKS

Nitric Acid in the body decreases the risk of heart attacks and is the key to cardiovascular health as it relaxes the body’s blood vessels. Major things which decrease nitric acid in the body is age; heart disease; diabetes; high blood pressure; low HDL cholesterol; alcohol; tobacco; prescription drugs; fried food or trans-fatty acids; arthritis; allergies; peptic ulcers; and sickle cell disease.

(Thank you to Val Reed of Wilcox NE for this very much needed information, especially to those who are nearing 50 or older!)
