For Sale: Talking Dog – CHEAP!

Posted on April 15, 2009 by: WayCoolDogs

I was driving through some small villages in Yorkshire when I saw a sign in front of a house saying, “For Sale-’Talking Dog”.

I hurriedly rang the bell, and the owner told me that the dog was in the garden at the rear of the house. So I hurried around to the garden where I found the dog, a little long-haired black and tan dachshund sitting quietly.

‘Do you talk?’ I asked the little do.

“Why, yes I do!” the little doxie replied.

“Hmmm…” I exclaimed. “Can you tell me a little about how such a thing developed?”

The dachshund looked up at me and said, “‘Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the SIS [Secret Intelligence Service] about my gift, and in no time, at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.’

“I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn’t getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals. I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I’m just retired.”

I was very amused at the story, yet amazed at such heroic undertakings. Even more amazed was the dog’s owner at my side. She immediately goes back into the house, with me right behind her. I demand if the dog is for sale, and ask her how much she wanted for her.

“Twenty dollars,” she says.

“Twenty dollars!  Good grief! Your dog is truly incredible. Why on earth are you selling her so cheaply?”

“Aw, my girl, because she’s a liar. She never did any of that stuff.”
