Google Instant and Dogs — Google Dog Searches

Google Instant and dogs. Hmmmm…. an interesting combination, not much unlike bacon and eggs or steak and potatoes. And probably a match most non-dog readers would not be interested in reading about. But if it were not for the presence of Google in the life of a dog, a lot of important information would not be available to the dog’s owner. On a daily basis, canine caretakers seek online answers on the health, care, dog information, training and breed information of their pet.

For website dog owners who work with Google’s Adsense, Analytics, click through ratings (CTR), ad impressions, and engine searches – Google’s new Instant feed-based user interface is quickly becoming part of the dog’s life. For those who have not yet heard of this new development, searching under google.com brings up a new type of search option. The minute you begin typing in a word – such as the word dog – search results are immediately displayed with the input of each letter.

For example….

(1) the letter d (d) in dog brings a drop down menu from google.com displaying the words dictionary, dillards, droid x, dell and d — with the search box containing the first word result “dictionary.”  The search of 128,000,000 results took about 0.39 seconds.

The letter d will be bold because you typed it in, but the remaining letters of the word dictionary will be a light gray as you did not type them in. But Google Instant did — through their user interface. The drop down box with the search results will have the opposite effect – the letters you type in will be light gray and the letters Google type in will be dark.

(2) The second letter you will type is o (do) for the word dog, with the search box displaying doane college, dominos, dodge, doodle, and do. This search resulted in 185,000 words in 0.29 seconds.

(3) When you type in g to finish the word dog (now the main keyword), 2,650,000 results show up in 0.39 seconds, with the words dogpile, dog names, dogs, dog breeds and dog in the drop down box beneath the Google search box. You have a choice to begin looking at the searches below or add to the word dog to search more specifically. You can also choose to look at one of the words in the drop down menu.

Dogpile is a search engine, offering you little information on the keyword dog other than as various results in a search engine. Dogpile results come from the Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask search engines. However, Google Impact will not work unless it is through Google.com alone.

Advantage of Google Instant for dogs

dog_wearing_google_t-shirtTwo camps  have begun forming for Google Instant – pros and cons – with me and my dogs kinda’ in the middle According to PCWorld, Google search technology has been accused on two sides – a major advance in search technology or just another of their gimmicks — depending on whether you are an advocate of Google or a mortal enemy.

Me? I am all for everything Google hands me that makes my life easier.

But truthfully, I like Google Instant because when I type in dog health for Google search, in seconds I get a whole list of new ideas to look at beginning with the first letter I type, stimulating my brain as I go – dog health, dog health insurance, dog health problems, dog health questions, and dog health symptoms. Each one could be an article in itself or several sub-titles for an article about Dog Health, if you remember was my original search word after dog.

When I checked on Google’s Search Based Keyword Tool for dog health, the first word on the drop down menu “dog health insurance” had a suggested ad bid of $3.48 with 1,200 monthly searches. “Dog health problems” was a $ .61 keyword with 1,800 searches. To me, Google Instant is better than any idea-writing program I could buy instead of just a search engine. The good thing is that it is free and easy to run, like many of the Google tools I use. You might say Google and the dogs have become my group-y section!
