Summer Dog Deaths – Contacting Your State DMV
Posted on September 03, 2010 by: WayCoolDogs
Summer dog deaths due to hot cars, lack of cool water, hot cemented kennels with no protection from the sun, and general lack of care never seems to get better. However, every one is 100% preventable – if you care enough. Mankind has been touted (by mankind ) as high on the evolutionary scale of intelligence. But the proof is this – the more intelligent we are the stupider we become.

"Dear sir, would you please tell your drivers to leave me home on hot days?" Sincerely Yours, a cool dog that still lives.
Recently, Way Cool Dogs (Nancy Houser) had contacted the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles and asked them to place a section in their driver’s manual concerning proper care of young children and animals when in transport with the driver.
We would like to see animal lovers do the same with their state DMV department.
Today we received a response from our state’s DMV. And this is a good thing, as people who love their dogs so much they cannot leave them home for a minute – even during the hottest time of the year – may lose their dog within seconds.
Summer dog deaths and neglect is never intentional in this sort of situation, but the end result will always be the same — a painful death horrible to watch.
Responsibility for animals and children does not end with their abuse. It should never end as long as there are caring people around, helping to prevent the abuse by choosing not to ignore it.
NOTE: A live animal should have the same protective rights as a living person regarding unnecessary abusive behavior. It never stops with abuse of the animal. It has been more than proven that abusing an animal will extend to abuse of a child or a spouse — a violent death in many cases. By doing nothing, you are just as guilty.
